During development of the Hull Roughness Analyser we received multiple requests to export data to Microsoft Excel sheets for further data analysis and the freedom that Excel brings along, customization of the reports, incorporating your own corporate identity and so on.
The decision has been made to exclusively support Microsoft Excel and export the collected data directly into a hull roughness survey template. The basic template that comes with the gauge supplied is a so called 97-2003 Excel file and will work with any version of Excel from 1997 and onwards.
If you have a recent version of Excel, like Microsoft Office 2010 or onwards you will enjoy further enhancements to style your reports.
Once the data has been send from the Hull Roughness Analyser to the Excel file you only need to add minor details like, vessel name, IMO number, shipyard etc. to complete your survey report. All measurements are automatically put into place in the proper hull sections.
To visualize the roughness across the entire hull you can use conditional formatting to color the values measured in a different way. In the example below we have set rules for the different sections, low readings are grey, and slowly shift from yellow to dark red as readings rise.
Furthermore you can incorporate your own company logo into the Hull Roughness Survey Report to give that little extra edge:
The template file is password protected and write only. The only reason for these measures is to provide protection against novice Excel users. If you feel confident we encourage you to go ahead and incorporate your corporate identity or change anything else. Please contact me personally for the password or any other questions regarding customization of the template survey file.
